The three principles we adhere to (Knowledge. Relationships. Business.) may seem like motivational words or tenants from an era gone by. To us, however, they are the core reasons why this site exists; they are a mantra to keep us focused on doing the right things, at the right time for the right reasons.
It’s not power, it’s empowerment
As I’ve stated before, how much you know is going to determine how well you can serve your customers. As with any occupation, what you know about your particular industry can help or handicap them. Yet, as the market grows and more and more players get on the field, what will distinguish you from the other guys?
Your knowledge of aging in place coupled with how your services (or products) can help people; that’s empowering. Take these and apply them with a zeal to serve those that need it most and you’ll have something that will make your company stand out like a purple cow in a field of Holsteins.
Doing what must be done…together
Your community’s needs are going to continue to grow. You are (obviously) going to want to continue to grow your business and serve more customers. To realize this in the aging in place market, your relationships with other businesses can mean the difference between being the best or being average. Today, many companies with “average” service, products or support are tolerated; many even prosper. In the coming market, your network of people can help propel you from good to incredible. You have probably heard that quote from Napolean Hill’s book about surrounding yourself with people who are smarter than you. Smarter is always good. But, I’ll take that one step further:
Surround yourself with people who are just as passionate about aging in place as you. If they’re smarter, even better.
Let’s not forget the most important relationship for your business: your customers. Your commitment to them will show in everything you do. If you are average, you will think that you need customers and they probably need help from you. You’ll get business and may not go hungry. If you are exceptional, you will believe you do important work and help people who need it. You will probably grow some and stick around a while. If you are incredible, you will KNOW that the service you and your network can provide to them can change their lives. With that attitude, your businesses could explode with growth and you could enhance the quality of lives of hundreds of people in your community.
